Review: “Take A Listen” by Mala Iwa
Hey Nigerian leaders! Sorry, Nigerian Rulers. One of the sons of the mighty pen, Mala Iwa just dropped a message, and if you are not too busy telling lies to the masses, sit, let’s discuss the contents, together.
The speaker talks about “Truth”, a lost book in most political libraries. The masses are so blind with what they hear that they don’t bother to ask questions. Mala is one who has been pushed to the wall, and left with no option than to fall, instead of heeding to quietness call, he decided to speak for all; reason he perfectly used rhymes to talk us through this walk.
Agbadas are now a trend among men of power. Little do many know they hide greed and pride beneath it. Mala points out the negligence of people killing each other, by politicians, as long as it help them extend their already wide political border.
Rural areas and no basic social amenities, graduates and empty hopes of getting a good job. With a furious tone, the speaker is pleading to the government and ringing a wake-up call to the people to make the right decision when voting. “Vote for your stomach and not your brother.”
The speaker points out that: We either help ourselves to grow or help another ruler to glow. Everyone should “take a listen”, it is a worthy one.
