Review: “Roofs Of War” By Emny Circuit
At first I felt an electrocution, I thought “Circuit” that succeeded “Emny” was the cause, until I discovered his name was coined from the kind of words he speaks; Touching. Emny Circuit is one of the few wise-minded young men left to spare.
The gunshot sounds in the background is perfect for the theme. We live in terrified abodes covered with roofs of war. Fear of the unknown. The only thing assured is yesterday, the next minute, another man can drop dead, and that man can be you.
Listening, the speaker stresses on the presence of the men in uniforms protecting people, with the uniforms alone and not their presence. I relate this piece to the struggles of people in some parts of Northern Nigeria. Not living in the affected areas makes some think they’re free from war, but Emny is here to remind everyone that “The aftermath of war affects everybody.”
The media has always turned a blind eye and we need the voices of the masses to speak. Emny lent his. Neighbours are also friends but everyone should be wary of friends. Sights of guns should instill calm and not fear in the minds of people.
Questions were posed to God. The speaker asked if prayers offered were not enough or our actions are not enough. Either way, prayer mustn’t stop, and favourable actions must be taken too. The government only want our thumbs, they don’t bother about our plight. Emny knows this too, reason he used prose and poetry to captivate our minds.
“Roofs of war” was and will always be a worthy listen.
