If Wishes…

I watched her walk into the restaurant, looking like an angel that just popped out of heaven. And in that instant, every sense of reasoning I had evaporated from me. They stood before me like items before bidders – walk up-to to her, focus on what I was doing or walk out to avoid unnecessary drama.

I was busy with a project review, after waiting almost two hours for Brenda, a business partner. At first, Brenda was committed to our work and keeping to time was a strong point for her until… I can’t tell if it was her buying a new car or my asking her to date me. She suddenly turned cold towards me, returning calls when she felt like and meeting up late, sometimes not even showing up at all.

Here I was, lonely at heart, slowly losing my mind and quickly approaching 40 a single Man. Before me stood my thoughts, and a beauty that makes my heart quake. The fear of rejection from my last trial bounded me teeth to toe, rendering me vulnerable and a coward to beauty.

Out of the blues came my name, hey Ola, sorry I kept you waiting, Brenda echoed just when I thought of giving my fears chance by walking out.
