When father decides to lie

If I’ve ever lied to you
Then know that my father taught me how to
He never failed in school
His last attempt, his script was lost in a pool.
He’d spare you but never the rod
He’d lie sometimes in the name of God
He’d hide behind the curtain when the neighbour knocks
And we’d say “our father says to tell you he’s not around.”
He’d tell us never to lie because in the pit of hell we’d die
But he’d take money from my mother’s purse
And help her beat the lights out of our eyes.
The day i lost my temper and chose to tell my mother
He had planted the note in my pocket
and the joke was on me
