What makes your heart beat?

To mention my mother’s name
That is a switch that ignites my pulse
A recurring scare that lurks in my mind
Like satellites waiting for signals
My ears never miss the sound or syllables

To face a crowd is a putrid mix
Of fear and courage and a little sweat
To speak words that can make or break
A heart, your eyes, your mouth as you stay amazed,
So in all the sassiness you’ll find the shiver

To tell a lie, to fake a story
I fear my eyes hold truths like scrolls
So I can’t let my gaze collide with another
Else, they breed tears that hold no emotion
Just the fear of one who is avid in reading eyes

To admit that my heart yearns for a person
Is like a battle with a hundred giants
Yes, love tastes like whispers
And one is only sure when it yells
But it only speaks in actions.

To behold a cat
To imagine it leap at me
The thought is hell on earth’s degrees
The fear of bumps, itchy eyes and skin
My heart races thinking of this allergy

Nightmares
To dream of the scary child in a hood
To dream of falling from a mast
To dream of the beggar turning to a troll
To dream of anything that makes me jolt
