Our Twist of Fate
I catch a quick glimpse of you
Through passing fleeting seconds,
Moments when I don’t exist.
Times where you’re wrapped in your thoughts,
Locked within your reverie,
While I gape with a yearning
Reaching out for your essence.
When I turn my eyes away
You turn to look right at me,
Missing my face in seconds.
Taking in a backward view,
Only we’ll never know this;
That our eyes could have just met,
That we both could feel the same.
But together we tried fate,
Unmarking where our paths cross.
Scared to let the lines tangle,
Confused within wishful thoughts.
Maybes are sure if we try.
Should we let cupid decide,
Or string his arms not to miss?
When you finally saw me,
My heart was already ripped.
No more than a forlorn piece,
You fed it with bloody dreams
Hoping to reverse its course.
But I have pledged to the cold,
So I won’t feel pain again.
Something about you has changed,
That you want me in this state.
We’ll make a classical art,
Splash of colours at its worst.
Couldn’t we have painted sooner?
Only life makes a cruel joke,
To match a band of misfit.
