The Accident!
Not long before I dropped the receiver, I sprang into action. Today is going to be a swell day, I thought to myself. I have barely had evenings like this. Maybe the universe knew that Kach was coming over. Or didn’t it? The fire understood how I felt, so in no short time dinner was ready.
The choice of cloth was deliberate. The utensils were placed in the order of use; from the outside in. The forks went to the left of the plate, and knives and spoons were to the right. I’d set the table with only tableware we would use. I borrowed the magic of candles because to set the mood and furnish this dinner with drama, candles were to be placed alongside a beautiful tablescape.
And then the phone rang again. I dove: “Hello,” a different voice said. “Is this Leon? There’s been an accident sir.”
Leonell.
