Forgive Me If I Don’t Believe You

We’ve stood by this door before,
Whispered words to pull its knob.
Held hands to what belief?
Your lips never stuttered before my gaze.
“I love you ” I heard you say,
Pressing all my mute buttons.

Every time you pressed these buttons
I shivered like I had never done before.
Even when I know what you’ll say.
Your name is written on my heart’s knob;
A door you can unlock with just a gaze,
The winds force my legs to find belief.

So forgive me this time if I’v not found belief,
Your fingers lost to the wrong buttons.
Not even your lazy cat eye gaze,
You cannot win like times before.
There is no shifting this knob,
You’ve ran out of things to say.
