For a love story

Love at a roadside

Olo was a beautiful girl, the father a Malam and the mother, a housewife.

They lived in the hilly town of Ifira Akoko, a sprawling village, green farmlands, and a flowing river named ugbokina. Most women wake up in the early hours of the day and head towards the river to be among the first to get clean water. It so happened that every day, when Olo left home to fetch water, the first taxi driver in the town will also be leaving for the park to pick passengers, going to the big town. Patrick always put on his headlight, which helped to illuminate Olo, showcasing her beautiful figure and a lovely complexion. They gradually looked forward to seeing each other at dawn and every day at dusk, Patrick came back with a big loaf of bread, parked in front of Olo s parent’s house , blows his car horn, while she comes out of the house, received the bread

Their love grew steadily until it became the talk of the town. Both parents were opposed to the relationship because they are both from different parts of the town. His parents are Christians while her father is a respected imam in town. It was a disgrace for his daughter to marry a Christian. What fellowship can a dog eater have with people who eat animals sacrificed to Islamic tesubaas? It was a war that meant the two parties were ready to kill their children to avert disgrace to the families.

One beautiful evening, It was at dusk. The sun was setting, and the golden rays seemed to touch the ground behind the hills. Olo was walking down the round, leisurely, without seeming to be in a haste to be going anywhere. The house next door may as well have been a destination. She carried what seemed like a pillow not well stuffed, but it was a pile of her choicest clothes wrapped in another piece of cloth. Just before she was missed at home, Patrick rode up behind, her, she slipped into the car, as they planned, and eloped, to live in an unknown town where their love was given all it required to blossom.

Olo and Patrick came home to visit their parents, two years later, with twins, a girl, light complexions like the mother and a boy as dark as the father.

Their forgiveness from both parents was total, their love became a reference point in the village to young lovers, can’t you see Patrick and Olo, they would ask a young couple who are not moving ahead with their love display
Their love lasted a lifetime.
