State of Emergency
There is an outside in these walls
within the veil of our becoming.
A leading river in your mind
flows beyond your borders,
breaks the wind of your tears.
One more item on God’s list
is destruction of this skin
the breaking of another
so we fall out and become another
without bones made of water,
without eyes that can see tomorrow.
There is a failure in these hooves,
those stepping on the wrong ground.
This is how it ends
when the blood grows feet
and your beating has a teeth.
