Understanding “The Mask on the Masquerade” by Miidong Daloeng

1. The poem has a slow rhythm

2. My favourite line is “While on the quest to find the devil.” The reason it is my favourite is that finding the devil is a search in vain. We decide if we want to have the devil over here or have the devil sit over there

3. It reminds of times I didn’t know how to question the question before questioning the answer to be able to answer to my answers.

4. The figurative expressions used in this poem are simile, personification and idiom. It helped to clearly explain the message that is being passed.

5. Our muse is different, I don’t see a “worst line” in another poet’s poem.

6. The poet is trying to tell that we are only scared of the unknown. What we know is what we will only know unless we are willing to learn, try.
