Frozen Friends

If friendship were to be compared to ice
It would be lost when it goes out with fire
If it were to be compared to sunrise
We would lose friends when the day soon retires.
To show concern we won’t freely aspire.
And as some don’t care to cover their skins
Frost opens up their ribs and stays within
closing sinuses, passages frozen.
Those who survive return from where they’ve been
Some are statues that will end up broken.
