What makes your heart beat?

Is it fear?
Is the bridge too scary to cross?
You are your own arbitrator,
Speak for yourself against your odds.
Is it love?
Are you too good to fall?
Places you stay is where you are found,
Broken hearts show the way to yesterday,
It is your choice the path you tread again.
Is it death?
Do you fear what you can’t run from?
Breathe, take it one moment at a time,
Either you are this or that, you’ll die,
Live, you have one life and it is enough.
Is it darkness?
It precedes light, it is a message,
Saying life has a side and the other,
Longer days and shorter night,
Sometimes smooth for a longer time,
Shorter nights and longer days,
Sometimes rough for a longer time,
Whichever, none lasts forever.
Is it life?
As in this same one that isn’t fair?
Where no one is too old or young?
Where I, Abdul, is a friend and foe?
This same place we are all saints?
Is this what makes your heart beat?
Sorry, my heart beats too. I can’t help with this one.
