Replies to “Dear Jerome” Ep. 1 (With audio)
To the red cap poet,
Your letter is no different from the headlines I’ve seen here.
Yet
It brings me new revelations,
As I read through from the genesis of your message,
About home and what’s cooking in the pot,
About how we no longer use fire woods,
But things are turning really black and hot.
How the weather tweets come with harsh tags,
And our old clothes have become our own rags.
I may be here in Rome.
But my soul will be there with you at home.
Do not wish to come here,
For the air isn’t fresh like the one you breathe,
And this place serves no comfort on the table.
Do not be quick to forget Father’s advice.
The moonlight story he told us isn’t fable.
Hold unto virtues, let go of any vice.
Change isn’t a stigma because it is permanent.
Pray for the sins you didn’t commit.
Pay the debt you never owe. Don’t omit.
I hope in your next epistle,
The news would be good.
Yours sincerely
Tochi Jerome
