Kids These Days
How often should a parent spare the rod?
Kids these days are now an enigma
Their rot can drive you nuts
Their backs can no longer hold the whips
Neither can their eyes hold the weeps
Knowledge has become their arch enemy
They’re bi-this, they buy-that and leave home with byes
Their shame and pride starts and end with the gram
Vanity has come to stay with them
Why do they start early, only to die early?

Is it still early to bed, early to rise?
Because kids these days are married to their beds,
and have phones that are smarter than them.
They eat scrambled eggs, toasts and oats for breakfast,
and know more than their fathers will ever know.
With busy parents trying to pay rents;
And a society seriously seeking to suck one dry,
these kids become hardened bricks even before the heat.
So when they real heat comes some of them crack.
But are not kids these days like those kids next door?
