For Elise and Enemies

I got served

From my mailbox in my handwriting read,
“You’ve been served to your inner courts.”
And so began these series of trials,
For my dead and living version.

I’d like to mention names, damn them to hell
Call out Satan and pull his horns
I know which finger, not the direction
So my compass points back my way.

Covered in rotten flesh, and stinking smell
Before the worms savour my brain,
Pieces of my life forms through the darkness,
I glimpse the truth I have ignored.

How I’ve always been my worst enemy.
The poor decisions that I’ve made,
Freely wasting time, I clamour for more.
Sunbathing in my idleness,

The weight of regret heaps on my conscience.
And this time it’s all me, all me!
Those wishful thoughts that could have been achieved
Buried with me in sand and grime.
