Barricades and Fences
The walls listen with their ears,
only speak when they’re old,
And die if not listened to;
There’s no need for questions,
Good fences welcome all neighbours,
Strangers would one day turn speakers,
From them, we’ll pick grains of wisdom.
Like the walls (words) of Elijah-
‘A stranger is one with no face’
Allow praises and envy to dine,
Cracks are only messages from the gods,
For broken dots need to make a line.
We build walls on our ancestors,
While we rove in search for answers,
Then claim they’ve slept on us.
-Like Elijah broke mended his walls-
If only I could load him a question
Point straight to his head and shoot,
Maybe I’ll get an answer,
Or get a banter,
Whichever, it’ll help me ponder
And prevent me a blunder,
-He-
Spoke speak, wrote write, taught teach and learnt learn;
His words I read in bold,
His acts I know are gold
His words are stories untold
His walls are mended not to fold,
I’ll learn from him, then I’ll mold,
Not his replica,
But another wall for sights to behold.
