Third Day

‘a callarse’ (silence)

now we will all count to ten
and we will all keep still.
not a word, not a whisper, not a hum
this one time we will live
without warriors, without wars
without mine, without yours.

this one time we will be content
locked inside the rooms of our minds.
we will open the windows
to not keep in touch with fear.

we would be us without the wire.
humans are the beings they require.

we would use fires only to keep out cold.
cater to people who are old,
allow the universe to teach us freely
to live.
to lean on the kind of hate that
makes love look good.
to allow grave silence to interrupt
this madness.

now I will count to ten
and you’ll keep still and I’ll go.
