Reply to Linda Gregg’s ‘Asking for directions’

REPLIES:

across the street
in this old mall
where we first saw,
those ten minutes
felt like an hour dream.

you left your breath,
left a scent, left a stare,
you were calm,
didn’t say a word,
but I heard enough.

inside this head,
you are the woman
I want to return
home to at night-
you truly are.

if you come again,
I’ve paid for this jacket,
and in the left pocket
is an old telephone with
just one number – call me.
