Reply to Bose Tsevende’s ‘Pieces of Peace’

peace is that girl,
told to be quiet,
told not to tell,
assaulted, abused,
as a minor, as an adult,
by the priest, by a stranger,
peace is that girl
that can’t speak
but is picking up
shattered pieces.

not only a name,
peace is that wise girl,
isn’t that vile man,
that kind person,
that present father,
peace is inside of me,
inside of you,
inside of us,
peace resides
where we choose.
