Heavy Teenager

Sunday virtues aren’t just for Sunday services
a home isn’t a house
with just roofs and walls
there should be warning signs behind doors,
eyes peeking through curtains,
window panes, locked windows
the azure sky; calm as it seems
gives shelter to kites and hawks
misleading chicks with fear,
hunting them for fun and food
we must teach the mother hen
to teach her kids to know right from wrong
for there are men with bloodshot eyes
looking at her daughters
when she’s not around.
