The love I wish I had

The love I wish I had
is of a father with many sons
that I am one and so are you
‘right hand, left hand, right leg, left leg’ –
is of Abraham to God
a father who would have slain Isaac
to please a man he had never seen
a man who opted to be burnt
than deviating from a man he never met
a man who preferred to be gone
than allow worldly things to take over his faith
a man who was assured of heaven from earth
and served God like he needed mercy from hell
a man who was given ample time to live
and lived every day like it was the last
until the last
