For December

#DrearyDecember

Nothing comforts better than a duvet
On any morning in December, but
Blisters on the lip,
And a nose infested with catarrh
Is the worst type of alarm clock.
Year in year out the same old story
They start with a gentle breeze,
Leaving school, Teacher’s whip,
excitement, and slowly the long
Distance trip cuts everything else
From catching a breather,
Meeting new cousins, girls and
Feeding yourself fat for a sacrifice.
The trip back home after a long market
walk to grind, find the right pepper red
The one spice fits all kind of spice
The reminder of January,
December leaves you wanting more.
