As Life Lives

Life is straight and forward
But we tell ourselves it is crooked
And we beg our pasts were different
Adult, teens and infants.
I wonder what I wish I
Would have known,
How to think, or cry, or work?
How to sleep or eat or talk?
Or how better to know what I don’t now
Life would be what it is, whether I wish or don’t.
