In God, In Us

He is terrific and awesome
He wonders if we’ll ever understand
He hears a nightingale sing when we pray
He sees us as an orchard of apples
He wants for us to revere him

I pretend that he is too far
I feel his eyes still
I touch his goodness daily
I worry that I am not worthy
I cry when I depart from his love.
