As Human As I Am

I took three bullets last night,
Hoping I would wake up dead
I did, only to my problems
Same way I left them before trying murder.
The faster I run, the closer they get to me.
Do you remember the peace before the storm?
In the same second as always,
I remember to forget all my eyes can’t see
And feed myself fat with
The emotions bursting through my veins.
Would you dance or stand and stare
When life’s drum rolls endlessly?
I know to drink my cup of regret
Praying never to deny the wrong
I always remember to forget
That the pain, the pleasure
The love, the lust
Is what makes me human
I pray to always remember;
The best of man is still a man.
