If I Were To Be God
Bring me more wine from the east
Let me drink and forget this Man for once
Seduce me to sleep with women from the South
Let them feel what I feel, these Men
When they let their feelings ride,
And forget that I created all things.
I am not Man, and Man is not God
But I know what it feels like to be a Man
And in Man, I put my spirit to help him rule;
His emotions, and the world around
The booze in the bars, and
The fishes flowing with the ocean current
This Man, the apple stuck in my throat
The reason all of earth was created
To expand, and make a haven for himself
To exalt me in all of my glory.
Like I missed my way, I’ll turn my back
And allow every prayer fall back as rain
Every plea, when they remember that I exist
I’ll let them flow through the streets of heaven
I’ll watch as these ones would detonate themselves
One by one till the earth is purged of her evil.
But I am not God,
I’m just another Man putting God through pain.
