How can I love you less?

Once upon a time we loved
Each other like seeds and soil
Like the sun, we would stand still
For each other till sleep comes
And we glide into our dreams
With a knowing that when the
day breaks through, we would remain.

Life is a game of numbers
We don’t have to roll the dice
Every day without you
Feels like a sweet empty dream
Close your eyes and behold mine
Hold my hands, I will hold yours
It will never get too old.

I want to love you lesser
So I save me from the time,
pain that comes with your exit
If only chains could bow them
Can I live with you in chains?
Can I love you any less
If loving is all I want?

Change was supposed to be good
This have never felt better
I wish I were a fruit tree
When one falls, another grows
Change for one thing is constant
You cast your lot, pick a side
You have, and I can’t move on.
