Now We Know Better
Politics has now become a form of religion. Promises on the other hand are the sacred hymns during these political campaigns. In fact some of us can recite them, we have been listening to them for over a decade now. And so did our fathers and their fathers before them. Same old hymns; same old ritual. It become like Sunday church service; we are conditioned reflex to it.
But the aura in the air this year is different. Not too different, but different all the same. The change did not come in the hymns or the actors or the scenes we’re used to seeing. The change came from some of the people’s mindsets. Though most of them are still conditioned, some of them have become more conscious of the things happening around them.
In one year, the people have been able to do more development for themselves than the the government did in 10. Because of that, we do not even want to listen to those old hymns of promises our fathers listened to. This year, we will not do brooms and umbrellas again. Now we know better.
