What Do You Fear?

I’m afraid of the dark
When your dark hands
The wiper of my face
The strength of my love
I cannot feel
I’m afraid of lack
The picture of ruptured Sudan
Hollow eyes, breath- in tummies
And the land burnt
In the heat of its own fire
I’m afraid of fear
It maims faster
It kills faster
And like the rear
Its coming after you
And before I forget
I’m afraid of love,like dying
The pain, the waste, the heaves
The tears of the bereaved
But I’m not afraid of heaven
