To Tochi and Ola

The mind that always seeks to grow
Will get weary, beaten up,
Sour to the bones on some days
At night, the daydreams take a rest too
But everything wakes up when you do
And follows your energy
You are the evidence that as we grow
We must learn to give up
Learn to throw away ambition because
When we pick them up again, we go hard.

My ancestors must know you
Or you know them
Or you share a diabolic bond
That reminds me of my roots
Then, there is the silent care
The absentee, not present
But there
I’m grateful for your eyes
That though they be sucked in
They still see me.
