Worship

there is a depth that has been told
to hold and measure a man’s fate
that for a man to amount to something
he must know and hold unto a god
for a man to acknowledge a god
he must have tasted darkness
the kind that binds and leaves something for the tongue
for without this knowledge
then there would be no need
to bend the head, a knee, both knees
it is by going down that we gather
enough momentum for the jump.
