There was blood in her smile
And a little breeze
A swift fixed darkness
Unrelenting.
There was ice in her voice
And some anticipation
waiting for rays to raise her spirit
There was yeast in her hands
and hope in her eyes
and doubt on her knees
There’s a space in her name
and a stutter, a sign of uncertainty
a sign that light needed someone
to hold.
