this has been the best,
has an edge over the rest,
it started as a short quest
with several storms to digest,
several sins not confessed,
at first, it seemed a contest,
a must-be-passed type of test,
then I became obsessed
with not wanting to be oppressed,
I damned emotions, none professed,
to my limitations, I staged a protest,
as a proud boy from the southwest,
to success: I want to be a known guest,
to my peers: I don’t want to be a jest,
I dedicated to working on my chest,
what’s life worth if one isn’t stressed?
this marked the start of a forever contest
to grow, to become light, to be blessed,
to be worthy, to be a choice; to invest
in people, places, priorities; to reinvest.
