Time and aging

An hour glass finally swells, cracks ajar
The sand mingles with blood and sweat from afar
Seeps into the wrinkles
And as our star twinkles
We are compared to a forgotten cigar

Days climb down as they go up in the same vein
We pick up too many stains and a child’s brain
Today it is a cold
Till we find that we’re old
And with each tick, there is less and less to gain
