A Ghazal among many

when words die:

water buddies are what we have become today,
waves, tides and ripples are our best outcome today.

languages thrown at us may just wave and ripple,
those that are clingy on us, stick like gum today

but words will die when we deny them power,
remove their grips, strip them and be numb today

go to that bar and listen like a deaf man would,
their tongues may beat like a drum, you be dumb today.

after all said and done, words do not really die,
words remain after we’re gone. that’s the sum today
