Chapter two

Beggars and hostages

Beggars of the streets
Will someday come to collect from
Those who earn the most

They who know patience
Whose joy is tasteless meals and cold
Whose bowls hold no coins

They will point their guns
With no demands, only judgement
“Thy wage is thy sin”

Their heads will be crossed
You will answer when you are called
Have you fed the poor?
