What if peace never comes?

This is not a question to be asked
Or a question to be answered
Peace will never come
So
We’d better adjust our hearts
And our ears and our emotions
Learn the tune a grenade plays
Learn to stop jolting
at the sound of war cries
We should learn to talk our children down
Tell them it will all be okay
Then teach them how to live alone
Teach them to always preach peace
Knowing fully well
That it’ll never again be ours
