I hope it makes your friends happy

friends are images rarely on my wall
i’ve tried many times to nail them up there
but oftentimes, like the season, they fall
around here we never make a good pair

about their happiness I don’t beseech
and neither should they yearn to take of mine
the things I do are against what they preach
so, as we walk, we often cross the line.

we don’t know to be happy together
we do know how to be happy apart
with intentions as light as a feather
we would meet as fast as we would depart.

in the end, we are happy when we leave
that’s how it pays everyone not to cleave
