Take off your eyes
from without,
look within,
expectations will
drive you to ruin.

An expectation is
a growing stillborn–
you wait, with hope
that transmogrifies
into acute grief.

If you tell yourself
“I am alone in this world,”
you will do
and exceed all you
have waited to be given you.
