If i were ten

I will like to play ‘ten ten’ outside the house
With my friends, and afterwards
Run off to the road near the river
Remove my dress, climb the tree
Pluck mangoes while my friend catches them
If i were ten
I would go to grandma’s house during school break
Because she serves pounded yam at Eleven Thirty
With many small pieces of meat
And stops my friends
Who eat faster than me
By holding up their hands
Urging me to eat fast.
If i were ten, I’d want to be in Primary Six
Where I will be the best student in English
And the teacher will say I’m the best singer too
