Take sorrow’s hand

The more that sorrow
carves into your being
the more joy you can contain.
But it is not always so,
there is sorrow that cannot be
returned from Rumi–
sorrow that withers and dries
the tree from the leaves
to the roots until the
tree becomes firewood.
There is sorrow, Rumi,
then there is sorrow.
