A Child

I like how to everywhere they roam
they know their mothers’ lap is home
how they can easily choose a friend
or a foe without explaining their choice
a smile isn’t faked unless it is meant
a lie isn’t told, the truth is in white
a meal can’t be avoided, they eat at will
and when nature calls, they fall asleep
as a child
i didn’t have to choose my clothes
nor did I even have to find a wife
those aunties were always in the queue
I miss childhood a lot
that I’ll make that of my kids
as memorable as it can be
