How to build a home

the house we own
will stand alone
if each one does not
lift and place a stone

with tiny little sticks
and a sprinkle of dust
wild beast are tamed
& nests open.
with warm words,
& love in her volume
individuals form groups.
with water and sunlight
leaves become trees
forests make communities
streams become oceans.
with two hearts, a bottle of wine
& a cozy bed, a child is born.
