Tomorrow won’t be the same

“Oh, what a night!
The stars are without light
The moon isn’t walking again
We may lose our rights to a rite.”

Yesterday, they sat in circles
Ate proverbs and poured libations
Our mother’s voices were hushed
Our fathers carried life like it’s theirs.
Today, we sit in pairs and freedom
Learning, un-learning and re-learning
Equity now sits on the table
We’re products of our, or society’s choices.
Tomorrow remains a mystery
Judging from the dots printed now
The lines may be broken beyond repair.
The people of yesterday were wise
The people of today are wiser by the assumption
The people of tomorrow scare my imaginations

“Oh, what a night!
The stars are without light
The moon isn’t walking again
We may lose our rights to a rite.”
