The Burning Water

that morning, when water met fire
they had a heated argument
and in that hurt, the heat it sent
was a threat and amplifier

fire was dying of thirst
water was freezing
one was in need of peace of mind
another was a piece of mine
to quench a thirst
or drown a hurt

and that was when the water bent
the burn didn’t come from a lighter
