I pray Thee

If only “if onlys” were buttons I could press
But let’s avoid wishes that won’t stretch
beyond religious elders and corrupt same,
Beyond careless and careful youths.
To play the blame game is a waste,
To pray and sit is a dump site
There’s a place for the old and young
It could be a throne, a home or a grave
In a land where optimism rules despite
Where our smiles still is faithful
Hope is a dangerous game I must say
But we play it and live anyway
The past caused the present so we live in it
The present heats the future so we pee in it
The future, is it for the old, the young or the living?
