Soon a writer hits a block

Grip a pen with frozen claws,
Birth ideas with stiffened jaws
Admire the rusty page
On which your blank mind is caged,
Bring a pen to a sword fight,
Try out math when you write
Find muse in the cursor’s persistence
This is a war against resistance.
To wait for your muse is hellish
You’d wait on and never finish
Squeeze the world in your mind
Until ‘writer’s block’ goes blind
Ask an ant, a petal or a gypsy,
To show you how best they see
This is not a war against a block
But one against your brain and its chalk.
