One Memory, One Child

I was once a child
But truth be told, I grew up too fast

I was late for everything
But never was it heard that I missed Supper Story.

Reading and chewing at anything
And playing and dancing everywhere.

I was a lover of school
Even though I hated the school work done at home.

‘Don-jazzy’ I had asked that they call me,
I was going to blow and own my record label.

I would play with my siblings and my food
Not minding if I was angry or hungry.

I was the Michelangelo in my class
And I wrote letters better than Paul at 7.

Nothing could hold me back
Except myself on days my ears or nose became a tap.

Every song my friends and I would remix.
They were faithful but left when I was asleep.

The cloud of insecurities never visited.
I am happy but God knows I was happier then.

Miidong.
