Few Among Others

In the market,
A man whose cavity can house a mouse
Has lightening and thunder strapped to his body,
The weight not as heavy as the guilt in his heart;
So he sweats in his palms and his pants.

In the market,
A girl has come to buy black sandals for school,
Her heart is a forest,
Each tree is an expectation of what the future holds.

In the market,
The man cuts a string,
He unleashes lightening and thunder,
The race to take away a life has begun.

In the market,
Only the girl’s black sandals is found
With a limb that is not hers not far from it.
She had heard no sound
She had felt no pain,
Light had reached her first,
All that she had seen was darkness.
